Overview

RTS is seeking our first in-house finance leader to take our business operations to the next level. As the company's first in-house finance leader, this role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution across all finance and accounting functions.Reporting to the COO, this position will play a critical role in establishing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, and driving financial strategy for our growing organization. The ideal candidate thrives in a startup environment where they can balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution of day-to-day operations.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Compliance

  • Personally handle day-to-day accounting tasks including AR/AP processing, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance and payroll support
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely completion of monthly and annual closing processes
  • Implement and maintain GAAP-compliant policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Manage cash flow, including monitoring of accounts receivable aging and collections
  • Build and lead relationships with outsourced accounting/tax providers during the transition to in-house operations
  • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the company's relationship with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Ramp, optimizing their usage for company needs

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports for company leadership, board members, and investors, including:
    • Monthly P&L statements with detailed variance analysis
    • Cash flow projections and burn rate analysis
    • Department-level budget tracking and forecasting
    • Key operational metrics dashboard
    • Quarterly board meeting financial decks
  • Act as the primary financial point of contact for investor queries and due diligence requests
  • Partner with department leaders to develop, forecast, and manage P&L budgets
  • Support sales and talent teams in deal structuring by providing financial analysis and profitability assessments
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making initiatives

Operations & Process Improvement

  • Design and implement scalable financial systems and workflows that support the company's growth
  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements in financial operations
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all financial systems
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including auditors and financial service providers
  • Lead any future accounting software implementations or integrations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a senior management role
  • Experience as the sole or primary financial leader in a startup environment strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles, with demonstrated ability to create and enforce compliant policies
  • Proven track record of hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting
  • Exceptional proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution of day-to-day tasks
  • Experience implementing or optimizing accounting systems and processes from scratch
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Online
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Experience managing and presenting to senior stakeholders
