We frame job descriptions at RTS as a set of problems we want to solve versus a set of requirements. We're a startup, which means we don't have all of the answers today and like any startup, we don't know the final form of our business yet. Justin TV became Social Cam and then became Twitch - we will go through our own evolution. We do know that our business is going to be talent-focused and then defined by the products and projects we take on with our talent.

  • How do creators leverage media and other platforms to build their brand?
  • How can a publicist be proactive in helping to grow Creators?
  • What does crisis communications look like for Creators?
  • How can we help their messaging and coach them?
  • What type of resources can we create that talent can refer to for education?
  • How do we arrange publicity opportunities such as speaking engagements, appearances, and interviews for Creators?
  • How can we set them up for a future after streaming?

What is your vision for the RTS brand?

  • How do we leverage PR to grow our multifaceted brand?
  • What are the key media outlets we should be speaking to?
  • How can growing the RTS brand be a halo effect for our partners?
  • How do we position ourselves as thought leaders?

How do we position Evo correctly?

  • How do we nurture Evo’s role as the biggest event of the FGC without going too esportsy?
  • How can we shine a light upon the stars of the FGC through Evo?
  • How can we elevate the PR opportunities of Evo’s brand partners?
  • How can we celebrate Evo’s storied history correctly through PR?

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working as a publicist in the gaming or entertainment industry
  • 3+ years of PR experience in the gaming industry is preferred, but 4+ years of relevant experience in other entertainment and media industries are welcome as well.
  • Proven record of successful PR campaigns.
  • Comprehensive writing portfolio (messaging, press releases, pitches).
  • A thorough understanding of games themselves, the games industry, esports, culture, and media is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of current affairs in the creator landscape
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in journalism, English, or communications is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to question, challenge and suggest alternative approaches to internal and external audiences in a diplomatic manner. Experience managing expectations of demanding clients.
  • Passion for gaming and content creators

Skills

  • Excellent planning, communication, and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to spot and develop compelling story ideas.
  • Ability to successfully interact with internal peers (Partnership Management, Product Management, Sales) and senior management as well as vendors and outside agencies.
  • Detail-oriented and highly efficient both autonomously and with a team.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
  • A strong work ethic with a desire to achieve the best possible results.
